Window to Shanghai
LED art piece featuring a Shanghai skyline silhouette set within a hand-built traditional Chinese window frame, made as a personal gift.
January 2016
An LED light fixture I made for my girlfriend (now wife, who I met while on study abroad in Shanghai, China). It features a silhouette of the Shanghai city skyline in tissue paper and cardstock placed within my take on the iconic window designs seen in traditional Chinese architecture.
The octagonal frame was built from scratch with a table saw, scroll saw, power drill, and hand tools in my dorm room at Georgia Tech. I installed remote-controlled RGB LEDs around the inside of the frame for adjustable color and ambience.
